Esan

about.

Esan.mn is Mongolia's largest national digital library, giving readers across the country access to 34,000+ books, ebooks, audiobooks, academic works, newspapers, and research papers from any device, anywhere. Built to advance equal access to education and preserve Mongolia's intellectual heritage, the platform serves students, researchers, and professionals nationwide. I led the end-to-end UX and UI design of the mobile app, collaborating closely with engineers to ship key features including offline reading, smart search, and annotations.

challenge.

Designing for a massive content library of 34,000+ titles meant that search and navigation had to work effortlessly, as users couldn't afford to feel lost in an ocean of content. A key challenge was also designing a reliable offline experience, since many users across Mongolia have limited or inconsistent internet connectivity. On top of that, the platform serves a wide range of users from students to researchers to elderly readers, meaning the interface had to be simple and inclusive without sacrificing functionality.

The app holds such national significance that it was officially named after the President of Mongolia, Khurelsukh. Today it hosts 34,000+ books, ebooks, audiobooks, and academic works, making quality education and research accessible to anyone in Mongolia regardless of location or connectivity.
